With British and AS running neck and neck (same number of votes) it seems that I missed the most important category

British AS

oh, wait a minute, that's the same as saying 'Just British'

I watched an interview with Rowan Atkinson on TV once.

When they got to the topic of 'Mr Bean' Rowan calmly explained that Mr. Bean was based on 'no one in particular, wasnt meant to parody 'The British' and that he didnt think there really were people like that :!:

Even I could see and hear that he was being sarcastic unless.......................perhaps..................Rowan is an Aspie

I wanted to say 'animal, vegetable, or mineral', but I felt it was better to give an accurate vote.

With AS and 'Just British' in joint first position, one might jump to a conclusion about the British.

Traffic Warden now has a vote leaving just the two 'control questions' without votes.

I wonder which Nationality has the closest match to AS traits?

What Mr. Bean is, is highly likeable despite the ways he flounders. I don't think the character was meant to portray AS, but I do think that by accident the character has many AS-like traits.

If you search, you will find other threads on this topic. I think that he only shares the bluntness trait.

As far as the Tati theory, I have read reviews that say that "Mr. Bean's Holiday" is an homage to Tati's film "Mr. Hulot's Holiday." (I may have gotten the exact titles wrong.)
