its easier to get away with speeding during the day. at night the cops hide in places you wouldn't think to look. . . like on overpasses, behind bridges, in bushes, etc. And by the time you notice them, they've already clocked you.
Also, during the day there's more traffic, so you get more warning when you're about to come up on an officer (everyone slows down at once).
