Actually, according to Raven's Progressive Matrices our brains are faster. A metaphorical way to explain this, our social processing software hasn't yet caught up with the new hardware. It could use some updates to improve efficiency, because as of now, the code is crap.

hmmm... kind of like the day of maintenance day on forums, games, etc., there are usually bugs that have to be worked out and things will randomly shut down for the day?

As far as do they work slower... I'm not sure if it's that it works slower so much as there is more blocking things from making sense socially. Where other people really don't have to think about those types of things and it comes naturally, I have to form the connection in my mind... by asking questions, coming up with answers, trying to "file" information to retain it, looking back on past experiences to try to make it all make sense, etc.

I guess I think it's more like having a super cluttered filing cabinet to go through... while other people only have a few things in theirs. So when someone asks for something... "I need your folders for responses for 'how do you do?'", it takes us forever to get the right one because we are sorting through more things, whereas the person with just a few folders can pull it right out and utilize it.....

does that make sense at all?

I am usually quite deliberative in my thoughts, so my mind probably does work a little slower than most. I consider it a good thing.

We do process much information differently, but as for slower depends I feel on many things and what co-morbids we have... having ADHD among other things my mind works extremely fast, down side can jumble especially when in a manic mood. I was tested a while ago and it seems like most of us I have huge strengths as well as weaknesses, where as the average mind seems to go from east to west, mine goes from north/east to south/west 8O :D

Our brains are not slower, we just run low priority social processing threads. (Ok that one was bad).

I liked it.

I like that one!

Me too!

I think my brain is really fast. When I first started to socialise I'd say whatever came to mind...and then get embarrassed again and again. So I now have to think about what I'm saying, if it's relevant, or if anyone would have the slightest clue what I'm going on about.
I appear slow because they are just some things I don't get. Like in maths when someone gives me a question I don't slow myself down so I usually get the answer wrong. I usually just want to get to the answer as quick as possible, so I guess it half the time.
When I'm comfortably talking to people I can jump from one subject to another and I'm sure I've left people feeling confused.
A teacher actually said I had an extremely fast brain.

I feel just like those not on the spectrum some of us process fast, some slow and some just process... its how we seem to have a different connection to some processes and that can depend on many variable's, myself with some conversations like to passing trains no connection 8O ...
