Good idea with the video. Unfortunately there will always be accusers and crimes to be falsely accused of. Putting yourself on video to prove your innocence could become a full time job and you might find yourself living in a constructed reality, televised 24/7 to billions across the globe like Jim Carrey in The Truman Show. I loved that movie.

I hate being accused of something I didn't do and I'm tired of all the effort it takes to prove my innocence. I've taken a new approach lately which is much easier on my nerves. I simply say - "You are mistaken," and then I walk away. If the accusation is particularly serious or harmful to my reputation and it comes from people I can live without, I cross them off my list and they no longer exist.

I hate it too and sometimes I don't care because I don't like having to try and prove myself wrong to someone. I just go "Who cares that that person thinks." It's not like my whole life has changed now.

Besides how can I prove myself innocent if I have no proof? And people can choose to not believe the other person.
I have thought about taking a camera to work with me when I lived in Montana to snap photos but found that to be waste of time and energy.

Another example:

My Father-In-Law is accusing me of not turning off the fishtank light at night so that the fish can go to "sleep". He claims that I have failed to do this at least six times over the past two weeks.
Starting last night, I am recording videos of myself turning off the fishtank light light at night. I am also recording the time and date from iGoogle, and then posting those videos on YouTube.

Like this:

The next time he accuses me of not turning off the fishtank light, I will show him the videos to prove him wrong.

I will not take crap like this.

Hey CleverKitten thanks for the vid, i've seen this video when I was logging into my YouTube. Would turning off the fish tank collects dirt or something and did you managed to prove them wrong?

"You, dont ever do that again!"
"Don't ever do what again, sir."
"You know what you did, I shouldn't have to tell you."

I hate situations like that! Obviously, if you know what you did, you wouldn't be asking! I usually just ignore those people and move on. I figure, if it was really important for me to know what I did, they would have told me what it was when I asked.

The fishtank light is always turned off at night, for the fish to get "sleep", and also to slow algea growth. The light is rather stressful to the fish too, I think.

He has not accused me of leaving the light on last night yet... we'll see just how long it takes before he makes a false claim. In the meantime, the 30 second videos will just keep piling up!

Hmm, I haven't seen The Truman Show. We'll have to rent it when we get the chance. :D I always liked Jim Carrey's acting skills.

You can watch the whole movie in 9 separate 9.5 minute parts on Youtube. Be prepared. It's weird. Don't want to spoil it for you. By the time you get to part 5 it gets really good. Make sure the episodes say Truman - the Movie by

Here's part one.

I can tend to overcompensate for things, overreact to pretend I have a reaction so I blend in, but it always looks false and it's always bothered me that I tried to blend in too much in the past, when I can't really, it never worked for me.

My true reaction is complete indifference or a cold flat kind of response and letting that kick in, and be true to myself instead of trying to blend, actually helps prove me right and prove my point (at work -- I live alone) than any emotional reaction at all. It kind of takes people by surprise, that flat kind of brusque tone and they tend to not be able to brush it aside as easily as like a protesting 'I didn't do it' sort of thing.
