I have lots of anxiety. The food noises, the crowding at the table, the loud noises of others. Yes, I have that too. My sensory issues are the main and only problem. The food as well, not because of sensory problems with food, but I have food intolerance and I love food, but there are favorite foods I love at Thanksgiving that I am no longer able to have. I just found out about these intolerance and I hate them. I feel bad that I have them and it saddens me that I can not have the stuffing, or the other stuff. My mom this year is giving me a gluten free, allergen free cake for dessert, so at least I feel happy.

Yep. But I have an escape plan for when things get too loud, too social, too intense.

I'll just go outside and talk a nice walk around the block. I'm a grown adult, I can do what I want, and nobody can stop me!
...but only after I am finished helping out with the cooking.

This has rather interested me abit, but from where i'am, thanksgiving is not a very big celebration, I would of probably felt the same like all of you do.... :D

What's interesting is that why don't they seem to do it in England as such... Only some churches celebrate them. I always wondered about that?

Can one be sick of family time after only an hour and a half? Yes. Yes, you can.

Thank you WP, for giving me somewhere to vent this year! I feel better now.

My husband and I are going to my aunt and uncle's instead.

Always on a Thursday.

hmm...interesting...i did not know that, so everyone gets the day off? like people going to school or work gets the day off?

25 Nov 2009, 11:05 pm

Not everyone gets the day off. There are people who still have to work like doctors nurses, people who work in a hotel, people who work at airports, anything that is open on Thanksgiving. Oh yeah, there still needs to be police officers on Thanksgiving and firemen. There could be a fire anytime and crime anytime.

95% of the people get the day off - after all, it's a national holiday.

As usual, my husband and I are planning a Thanksgiving "stay-apart" this year. Holidays with family are my idea of hell.

We don't have Thanksgiving where I live, but Christmas and New Year's Eve are always a big thing for my family. I enjoy Christmas at home, because I can just retire to my room when I get sick of everyone, but I don't like having to go to my auntie's for New Year, because their house makes me very uncomfortable (more so than any other house that is not my own). I could go into my "why I dislike my auntie's house" rant, but I won't bore you with the details.

Mum says she has decided we won't have to go this year, anyway (she doesn't go anyway, as it is my dad's sister and they are divorced). That was the good news. The bad news is that she hasn't invited my dad over for Christmas this year. Me and my brother were both upset by this, except that he reacted by running off and crying for half an hour, while I stayed where I was and said that I like it when we all spend Christmas together, and Dad is more important to me than Grandma, Mum's friend Ian, or any of the other people who we spend Christmas with. So she got pissed off and said I was welcome to spend Christmas at my dad's house if I wanted. But I DON'T want. I want us to be together at home like every year. :(

I DON'T MiND SiTTiNG AT THE TABLE, BUT WHEN I'M TAKEN INTO THE CONVERSATION i TEND TO GET TENSE. THE THiNGS THEY TALK ABOUT ARE THE THiNGS THAT ARE iN THE LEAST OF MY iNTEREST SO iT'S REALLY HARD FOR ME TO KEEP A GOOD FLOW.
