When I was a kid, I usually bite my nails and often play or pull my hair every time I’m nervous or upset at something. Twirling my hair became my habit especially during stressful circumstances or whenever I am tense or anxious. The biggest problem is, every time I do this especially when I’m talking to someone, they would assume that I’m attracted to them (but the truth is, I’m shy at them). I rarely do it now to avoid troubles. I also hate people touching my hair or me in general.

oh, I've had that too! People thinking I'm flirting with them because I'm playing with my hair. :S It's very awkward when I learn afterwards that someone thought I was trying to come on to them just because I'm stimming.

I often twist my hair, the speed can vary a lot. Occasionally I'll take locks near my ears (other locks aren't long enough) and pull them towards my mouth. Then I'll bite, and use my mouth to pull them out.

Any surface I've been near tends to contain a small pile of hair. And I've just noticed, my hair looks almost exactly like glider18's picture, but brown.

I twirl my hair, hold it between my fingers like a brush and tap the brush with my thumb. Not very good for the hair so I need regular cuts for my split ends. I like to feels the contours of single curls too.

I'm almost constantly doing this when sitting still (listening or reading etc.)
