Seems to me like you're experiencing a bit of anxiety related to your SPD problems. My own autism has a very strong sensory component, but I've never been outright scared by the unpleasant experiences; it's more like uncomfortable than scared. It's understandable to avoid unpleasant things, but of course if that starts to cut into your life, then something has to be done to handle the problem. If it's putting limitations on what you feel you can do, then it's probably a good idea to check into some kind of anxiety problem before you start limiting yourself more. You can't do too much about the sensory processing stuff (sensory integration therapy helps some people but doesn't make it go away)... you can do something about how well you're handling your SPD. People with all sorts of physical/neurological conditions can benefit from counseling to learn how to handle them--everything from recurrent migraines to cancer. SPD can really start to wear on you after a while, especially with other sources of stress in your life. It might help to get some advice about how to cope.
