They are the number one thing in my life. If people aren't intrested or tell me to shut up about them, I never talk to that person again...ever. My parents have always encouraged my obesssions. If they were to take everything related to my obsession away, I probably would have commited sucide. My main special intrests have always been animal related and one species in pitcular is king. My parents always figured I would just grow up to be a famous zoologist or veternarian. I collect ANYTHING to do with meerkats and know probably everything there is to do with them... Yet everyone thinks I would hurt it if I ever got a live one. I think I would make a wonderful meerkat owner because I would know so much on it's needs. It would have a charmed life.

I buy anime DVDs when I can. I prefer it over watching it online for two reasons.

1. It helps the anime industry when you purchase the DVDs.

2. I just LOVE owning it in physical form.

As for how deep I'm into this special interest, I do think about it almost none stop. I'm trying to watch more animes and it's really hard to just focus on one or two, but just getting the DVDs is exciting enough.

Even if I'm not doing something related to my special interests, my mind still gravitates towards them. I can only think about other things in short bursts of time. Having to divert my mind to anything outside of my interests also wears me out. I'd say, during school time - 50 - 70%, but I try to invest as much time as possible. During holidays - 100%.

What CockneyRebel said - you become what you think about - is the premise of my life. And I too am looking forward to the outcome.

I'm a manga reader myself, and I LOVE spending money on mangas even if I don't read them! There are some that are only online (APH springs to mind) and while I have a couple of anime DVDs, manga will always be my favourite form of Japanese cartooning.

Me too! But not the one I listed above.

Me too!

People at Uni think I'm dedicated when I say that I chill out from my costuming coursework by making more costumes.. x3 But I just find it relaxing making things. I used to be the same way about origami as a kid.

That said, I do have other interests. So I wouldn't say it dominates my life, but it is a very significant part of it.

Specialist interest topic

My special interest is like a tree trunk, and many of my sub-interests branch off from it, so I am never far from an interest that has lasted over 42 years. Before that, my interests metamorphosed into my current one, all to do with reading/research. :)

Like many others, I use my special interests to prepare me for a field in writing television scripts, short stories and poetry.

One day I aim to write an episode of Lazytown ;)
