To me, this story kind of reeks of "one-sidedness". This doesn't seem as much "discrimination" as it does "there are other implications to allowing a dog into a classroom of kids". What if the dog becomes a disruption to the other students, no doubt the parents of these other students would scream and cry to whoever deals with this kind of stuff that the needs of one student are disruptive to more than one other student.

The balance seems to be tipping in favour of the school, in my opinion.

But the thing is, it's a service dog and service dogs are like people. They don't act like dogs. They are trained to sit still, be quiet, be neat. They aren't even considered to be pets.

homeschooling isn't always a good option, or the right one.

service dogs can come into stores, on public transportation, into office buildings. if it was all about allergies and fears and phobias, then sight-impaired people should just stay at home unless they have a human to guide them around!

disability accommodation should allow the service dog. if there are allergies or phobias in a classroom, special ed staff gets to figure it out. they can't just say "this is too hard to figure out, let's just disallow it" but that's what they do, a lot. that's why there are lawyers who make their living fighting against disability discrimination in schools.

UNCALLED FOR!! ! Service dogs are absolutely allowed access ANYWHERE that is open to the general public is allowed access. People have fears and phobias about different races, religions, and even of the disabled..... Tolerance is a real world skill. Why shouldn't that be taught at school?
