I would rather spend long amounts of time with my pets and short amounts of quality time with my family. Being around people too long is exhausting, trying to live up to their expectations is near to impossible. Pets will accept me regardless of any of my differences from other humans.

I tend to prefer the company of my animals more, though I don't believe it is due to a closer attachment to them over my family. It is simply a matter of comfort. I can be myself around my animals, they expect nothing from me. I am never comfortable in the presence of other people, regardless of how close I am to them.

Pets tend to be much more accepting...

Although my dog does demand that I allow her to wipe her eyes and excess fur on me.

Doesn't everyone prefer the company of pets to family? Otherwise, why have pets? To keep you company without being.. people! You choose to live with pets.. most people don't choose to live with their families!
Your pets don't judge you, you can act however you like around them, wear whatever you like, say whatever you like.. you never have to put on an act or worry that you'll say the wrong thing. You don't have to worry about their feelings in the same way as with people. (I was going to say you don't have to worry about hurting their feelings, and then I realized that it wasn't totally true.. but still, not in the same way as you do with people where you have to worry about how they'll interpret what you say and stuff.)

How many of you would truly rather spend time with your pets than your family? I need to know b/c I feel a little guilty about this.

Well...I trust my dog more than anyone else. But, I thought about it. And I really had to think hard. I'd choose my parents over my lovely doggy of whom I love more than any other pet I have had/will ever have.

But. My doggy hasn't got long left. :(

My pet is dead so that option is gone. I'll be damned that my parents want no replacement; I live in their house so I have to be abide by their rules. I can't move out and they know it so now I can't get any pets. Still, when I did have my pet, I would spend more time with him then my parents.
