They just look like tinted prescription glasses.

I have mine tinted to cut down that "white" colour of normal room light. The optometrist I see says she does it often with people who have an ASD and also wear glasses.

I do wear glasses and I need to get my prescription changed so I will look into the cost and possibility of having the lenses tinted cobalt blue. I once had lenses that changed according to the light I was in, but they were costly and I got them only because I had good vision insurance at the time.

I never till a few years back, when my photosensitivity jumped up a notch, wore dark glasses. In my teens I decided they were for sissies and for the [ugh] fachion conscious. But then, I wore glasses siince about 4th grade. I twitch with them [who needs cigarettes?], use them as a shield, take them off when talking so I can't see the one I'm talking to and put them on for listening so they can't see me.

A friend told me way back, "I used to wear glasses till I realized I was hiding behind them" [she switched to contacts]. I just stared at her. How alien can you get? Isn't hiding the point?

i used to have a nifty pair of glasses years ago, the style of which i sort of devised myself: squarish gold rimmed reading frames, but with prescription lenses for nearsightedness. then i had them tinted a slight neutral greyish purple. they looked quite cool and the color accthented my fathe and hair nithely.

I used to experiment with eyeglasses in
high school, fooled almost everyone.

As for dark glasses, no not at all, except a
pair of aviators I wore, prtending they were
prescription, had bad time explaining.

I wear glasses with transition lenses so they become sunglasses when they are exposed to sunlight so I get to have sunglasses outside at least. I wish I could get a pair of prescription glasses that are sunglasses all the time but that's not an option. To answer your question though yes, I feel better with sunglasses.

I have transitions as well. The only problem with them is that they don't change very well in cold weather, which is about 9 months out of the year in Wyoming. I'll be biking home from the University in a southerly direction, and the angle of the sun coupled with snow/ice glare will turn them almost opaque black. Then I get home and I'm stumbling around for twenty minutes until they change back to their normal clarity.

I've worn transitions for most of my teens, and despite the problems they work well. The only other problem is when you are driving, since they need UV light to change and cars already have UV filtering on the windshield and windows.

I once read about a motorcycle helmet that had a one-color LCD sandwiched between two plastic panes on the visor. You put in a couple of batteries, and it had a photocell which would measure light intensity and adjust the opacity of the LCD to compensate. The system is probably too bulky for normal glasses, but it would be a great concept.

Love my sunglasses wear them all the time, I've had the same pair for 9 years.
Its so difficult to get a pair that fits perfect and cover peripheral vision,
mine are by Dirty Dog, not too expensive and good quality.

i have never worn sunglasses (except for when i tried a pair once).
i can not stand the pressure of them on the bridge of my nose, and i can not tolerate the feeling of the frames around my ears.
as well as that, i am very irritated by the lens rims blocking part of my view field.

I wear polarized sunglasses when driving in daylight, and anytime I'm fishing or shooting, but it's because, it's usually bright out and the polarization sharpens the image and/or lets you see through the reflections on the water or other driver's windows.

I've experimented a bit with wearing dark glasses. I like it, but I can't stand my current pair. They're too thin to block out a lot of light/eye contact. But getting prescription ones replaced is expensive. :/
