When I was growing up I had several places I found peaceful. I loved to set up a tent in the backyard and lay in it during the daytime. The subdued sunlight filled the tent with a peaceful glow that I found very peaceful. I also liked to relax inside one of the caves on my family's property and listen to the water trickling deep inside. The coolness inside the caves during the hot summertime was also neat. Another place I found peaceful was under my billiards table before bedtime. I liked to turn the lights out and leave a small crack in the door to allow a little bit of light in while I sat under the billiards table.
Today, my peaceful places have changed. I find working on computer in the bedroom to be a peaceful retreat during the afternoon when the rest of the family is downstairs. I also like getting to church early on Sunday mornings to work on my organ music. I also find playing my Hammond organ in the music room at home to be peaceful.
Your post reminded me of camping trips in tents (NOT intense!) Thank you! I will add that to my array of choices for virtual places of refuge! As a kid, I used to love improvising tents (we called them "forts." For example, a table with a blanket over it, a refrigerator carton, and the sofa cushions assembled to make a "fort."
