Silicon Valley is near San Francisco, California (I believe.) Washington state is the home for Microsoft, so I can see why one might think Silicon Valley is there. Is Redmond, Washington near Seattle? I don't know.
Redmond is a suburb of Seattle, about 15 miles east of downtown... Seattle a haven? I'm not sure about that. I LOVE the city itself, it's very peaceful and green (as big cities go), but it's an incredibly difficult place to make your way. The people there are all super cutthroat and stuck up, which bodes badly for those with AS in terms of both finding work and navigating basic day-to-day interactions
If you can somehow manage to avoid all the people though it's great
Sadly I don't have anything as far as euphemisms go, but I definitely would also give my vote to "erratic life volume syndrome"
