So I shall probably spend Valentines day playing WoW.

:)

Awesome :D

But how comes you and your husband live apart may I ask?

My husband and I have long since given each other permission to ignore Valentine's day.

It's a good excuse for getting and giving chocolate, but mostly it's just another one of these consumer holidays, where people are pressured into buying $50 bouquets of roses, and jewelry.

I would be really annoyed if my husband bought me jewelry just because it's Valentine's day. I mean, if you absolutely must spend a huge chunk of money, at least spend it on something that's going to get some use. I keep receiving jewelry catalogs in the mail. There was one catalog with a hideous diamond bracelet which cost as much as a small car. It had a caption on the page like, "Get her a gift she'll never forget."

Well, I certainly wouldn't forget it if my husband spent $20,000 on some ghastly trinket. "Sorry, kids. No college for you."

I'm also glad that my kids are past the age where the entire class has to bring Dora the Explorer "valentines" to each other kid. All the other parents want to turn it into a candy holiday, so each kid comes home with a bag of crappy little candies which sit on the shelf for the next two months. And then there's that one parent who brings in a big gift for each kid, like a book or a McDonald's gift certificate. I can only guess what her motivation is for doing that at every holiday. It doesn't make up for the fact that her kid is an annoying oaf who needs to learn to keep his hands to himself.

But I digress.

Nothing. Never have done either. The last time something would of happened was when my ex-gf dumped me about a week before a few years ago. Oh well! Less money for me to spend :D

Probably spend the day either coding, gaming, doing some university work or just chilling with my housemates...

I hate Valentine's, and refuse to talk about it whenever someone brings it up. It's pointless and boring to me.

I still kinda think that because i'm not even sure if I would be able to see her... :(
If only she was independent with travelling, we would of seen each other constantly, unfortunately, her mum is like....
"I don't want to come because the dog is there" and now I haven't got the dog, it would be hard to convince her. AGH! :x

Because I married a guy who lives in a different coutry from me and I am in the process of immigrating. We will likely be apart for several more months before everything is finished.

Definately this. And possibly a teddy bear. I am very partial to soft textures.

Other than buying discount goods, I have never done anything for valentines day. I don't like the idea of buying gifts for your partner/being romantic out of obligation. If it is not of their initiation, it is meaningless imo.

I must be the only one that sees Valentines day as something romantic. Even NT's don't care much for it. If I had a partner we'd have a nice romantic dinner at home.

You aren't. I love it. We're definitely having a nice dinner at home. And when I was still a single mom, my kids and I make would make small cards by hand and give them to family or friends. I'm a romantic. I don't expect expensive crap (nor give it) but I love the gift of time or something thoughtful. Sometimes my husband writes me silly and clever haiku. I love them. I do like lingerie, like I metnioned earlier and yes that can be expensive but it's also the gift that keeps giving! :o

I'm glad my guy and I don't "do" holidays. I'll be watching the first day of Olympic figure skating on the 14th.

My BF and I have decided not to do anything this year. I might just make heart-shaped chocolate-chip pancakes though. And join the holiday games on Subeta, this sort of game site thing I'm on that always has fun and weird events on holidays.
And of course, buy all the marked-down candy on the day after. XD XD XD

Valentines Day is always the same for me, just like any other day. To be honest it's a little depressing. Not that I care about the holiday but I get tired of everyone having a reason to do something on V day except myself. But I guess there's no place like home...which is where my Xbox 360 is. Being at home is good because being in public makes me nervous.

Nothing. It's just another day like any other. I already have enough *special* days to remember, like Yaksmas and my mom's birthday. Maybe I will have a special dinner or dessert or something in the spirit of satire.
