I have non 24 sleep wake syndrome, so you could say my sleep pattern is erratic, to say the least. Example: When left completely alone, no need to wake at any certain time, I actually have a 36 hour day. I wake for 24 hours, and sleep for 12. It's annoying, but manageable. Now, however, somethings... wrong. I sleep for fourteen hours, wake for twelve, and feel utterly exhausted. So still strange.
Also, it doesn't help that I live with a toddler who doesn't sleep properly. He's pretty nocturnal, no matter what we do, but his schedule is always rotating. He may have the same problem as me, but I find myself awake at any given hour at some point in the week because he is as well.
