I've got social anxiety and I get panic attacks, but I take meds for it. I'm off and on with those...I get anxious at restaurants, or waiting in line for something or even doing things I enjoy...I'll just get a random panic attack. Sucks...

I'm pumped full of psychiatric meds and I still get anxious.

When I was investigating this many years ago I came across the writings of Freud and initially thought that he was right in linking sexuality to anxiety (the simultaneous desire to have sex along with total horror at the thought of doing it with someone). But thankfully modern psychiatry has a less embarrassing explanation for it; dysfunction of neurotransmitters, childhood traumas, etc.

I have found that large doses of vitamin K makes the anxiety minor and transitory. I take about 500 micro-grams a day. If I miss a day the next day I start to get anxious and meltdowny. The best part is that vitamin K is cheap - $3.25 at the GNC for 100 pills. 100 micrograms a pill, 5 pills a day, 20 day supply... so for little more than 16 cents a day I have peace and focus. I highly recommend it. Unless you are on blood thinners. Vitamin K thickens the blood. So, you may wanna consult your doctors.

A few links that discuss the benefits of Vitamin K for the autistic:

/Oh... and BTW, spinach is full of vitamin K.

I started an 'Anxiety' thread a few months ago and so I suppose I should vote yes on this one too.

In fact it is my current anxiety which is leading me to arrange for my diagnosis.

Good to see you on the thread Bill

I don't have an official diagnosis of Asperger's but I definitely have anxiety. The one thing that can set off my anxiety big time is the health of my dogs. I can get myself into panic attacks if they start throwing up or seem lethargic. The stupidest thing about this is that I am fully trained vet nurse so my anxiety makes no logical sense at all and I am well aware of this even in the midst of a full blown panic attack. I just can't seem to shake the feeling that I will miss something that will kill them if I don't pay attention and hence I have to watch for every little sign of ill health. Stupid, stupid, stupid but then I guess anxiety isn't logical.

My dogs, bless them, are used to it and will actually come to me if they do feel sick as they know I will do everything to make sure they see a vet asap and get better. Just wish I could be vigilant without the associated anxiety attacks.

I have immense anxiety & always have since I was a very young child. I'm even on a medication for it.

I tend to get anxious when something different interrupts or is added to my routine. Primarily fear out of messing it up for the most part (have this distinct fear/hatred of trial and error with certain things).

Fairly anxious, especially when going shopping for things and the sales assistant or person comes and asks if I need any help. Or when I need to ask the sales person a question but stutter or speak too softly and they give a *look.

Also when in crowded and noisy places - I start feeling "fatigue" together with anxiety - an oversensory thing.

I have both OCD and Asperger's, so I have anxiety that comes from each disorder. My main AS anxiety is all about change, unpredictability, and the unknown aspect of the future. Whenever I have to do something new or go somewhere new, I freak. Whenever I'm waiting for something to begin, I freak. All other types of anxiety I have are OCD-related. I'm the typical waxer-waner OCD-er, so my OCD anxiety isn't always present at high levels. But I usually have AS anxiety at least once a day.

I took some anxiety/tension vitamins today and I felt drugged, numb. I can understand that medication could do this to me but vitamins, really? So I think I should only take them when in stressful situations.
