Some interesting posts here.

I never eat mushrooms or avocados because of their texture and I've always been that way. I feel like it's eating worms or slugs or something. Used to have that problem with tomatoes, but I can cope with some now.

Also, I strongly detest omelet. I like other egg based food, but the thought of omelet makes me feel sick. Not sure if that's because of texture or taste or perhaps a combination.

I have always been a vegetarian, so I've probably missed a good number of animal dishes that I can't handle.

I forgot to mention, yoghurt with lumps of strawberry or other fruit is horrible. The feeling of them amongst the lovely yoghurt gives me shivers all down my body and arms.

Vegetables like okra & asparagus, I can't eat because the sliminess of it is far too creepy. I can't eat most seafoods because of their textures. I tried explaining to a "friend" once that the reason I don't like shrimp is the "texture" & not the taste, & she just thought I was crazy because I guess she doesn't notice the textures in food.

I hate chewy cookies. I like cookies that are harder.

Can't eat anything with chunks, so all my sauces and soups have to be blitz. Can't stand peppers, tis like chewing a cats tongue, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers are far to slimmy, biting into a baby cob sends shivers down my spine. I'm really funny with meat, if I chew and find any grissle the whole meal ends up in the bin.

I can't mix the foods on my plate, things have to be eaten in a certain order, I never mix textures.

I'm very sensitive to this as well. (I used to be even worse.) I can't eat mushrooms, most squash, raw onions, or (usually) squash. I also have trouble with mashed potatoes. This is a big problem, because I'm a vegetarian, and the stock vegetarian dish at a lot of restaurants often is mushroom-based.

I hate fat and oily food, cooked forest mushrooms like snots, dry food, white rolls like styrofoam.

I prefer brei with more water and tasteless for NTs.

I hate oatmeal cuz it's a combo of slimy and chunky.
I can't stand cream o' wheat (gluey and gritty)
I don't like bananas (texture combined with lame flavor)
can't stand old woody peas
I HATE brown bread (texture plus bad flavor)
I despise brown rice (texture and bitterness)

I like the texture of banana. When I was young I used to like the feel of banana on my lips and chin. My dad would tell me off for rubbing banana on my face while I was eating it

I like zucchini for the way it oozes lots of juice into your mouth when you bite it.
I don't like the feel of meat in my mouth, it feels too rough and I always think about the poor defenseless animal that was probably treated poorly and died in a slaughterhouse just for me to eat it
Fish is repulsive, I can't stand the smell of it, so I'd never eat it. I can't go into the fish shop because I feel sick at the smell.
Mushrooms are another thing I can't eat. They just taste yuck to me.

That's why I had a very hard time eating vegetables when I was younger. I can eat veggies now, although there are still some I won't eat such as cucumbers, pickles, carrots and tomatoes. I also don't like Jell-O because of it's feels slimy in my mouth.

When I was young, lumps in my mashed potatoes made me gag. Now I won't eat mashed potatoes unless they have lumps in them.

Slimy food is the worst ever - but I mean really slimy, like okra. Otherwise I love vegetables. I also prefer a consistent texture in most things like peanut butter needs to be completely creamy - no chunks.

I'm not a picky eater at all but I've always had a problem with food that has "bumps" in it. Yogurt that has fruit chunks is a perfect example. Brownies with nuts is another. Onions on my cheeseburger is yet another. It should be noted that I have no problem with fruit, nuts or onions. Only when they're mixed in with foods supposed to be totally soft.

I cannot eat any raw plant matter, except for REALLY thin apple slices, and it will take me over 2 hours to eat one apple that way. Biting into a piece of lettuce or something elicits a very strong gag reflex, and makes me unable to continue eating for quite awhile. I guess it's like if most people smelled vomit while they were eating? Or if someone told a totally gross medical story? (Neither of these effect me.)

Sometimes I do have a problem with "unexpected" changes...like a poster mentioned yogurt with fruit pieces in it. I'll pick out the fruit and eat it separately. I also segregate mixed vegetables and things from soup or stew. As opposed to just taking a bite of stew, I will spear 2 potatoes and eat them, then pick out a dozen or so peas to eat, then take a bite of meat. It's never a simple mouthful.

The flavor of carrots reminds me of earwax (don't ask), and I find them repulsive unless they've been cooked for hours, like in a soup or stew or alongside a roast.

I can eat pretty much anything else though. Except...lately Kashi toaster waffles have gagged me. I'm not sure if it's the taste or texture, but I threw the rest of the package away. :(

Similar situation here. In my case the exceptions are avocado and pineapple as part of a dish.

I have issues with substances that are slimy and mushy way--some fruit gets this way at a certain stage of ripening (bananas, nectarines, mangoes, peaches, apricots) and I can't eat them at or past this stage.

A lot of dressings and sauces are also slimy+mushy or slimy+pasty and I won't touch them. Pudding, custard, and yogurt are a bit like this too and I can only handle eating small amounts of them before I start to gag and feel nauseous.

I have problems with fine grainy textures--like soft apples (I describe as akin to the sensation of eating raw cornmeal or flour.....it's revolting).

The worst food texture is "stringy"--I take the stringy bits out of eggs before I cook them, I carefully de-string green beans, oranges, and bananas before I'll eat them, and I think celery is generally disgusting.

I have difficulty eating crispy food. I don't care much for biscuits, cookies, chips, fresh apples and such. I don't mind the taste, but the texture is uncomfortable. Changing the texture of the food usually helps me eat it. I like the taste of apples, but I must grate them before I can eat them. I can eat chips if I leave the bag open for a day or two first, as that softens them up. I can eat biscuits, cookies and such if I drink lots of fluid with them and let them melt in the fluid in my mouth and crush them with my tongue rather than chew them.
