My boyfriend (who also has Asperger's) is HORRIBLE at finding things... and also very good at losing things.
I'm the exact opposite haha. So whenever he loses something, I always find it for him.

Though he's far better than me at easter egg hunts... sigh.

Terrible time finding my own things. I have developed a system of wall hooks and storage places for my vital items (wallet, keys, iPhone). Still screw up sometimes, and not being able to find something leads first to a feeling of distrust in reality ( I really begin to feel like the butt of some cosmic joke) and if I don't find the item, surefire meltdown.

I am terrific at finding other's people's stuff, for whatever reason. I just try and reason my way to where there stuff should be, given what they've been doing. Never works for anything I've lost, though.

I have a big memory problem and forget/lose things all the time - as my housemates are plainfully aware

Saying that most of the things i lose seem to end up in the fridge :D

I've been suggested a few methods like writing stuff down (but that has its own problems) but none of that has really worked so im a little stuck on it and the only solution ive found is to really concentrate on what i do (which is much easier said than done)

I'm quite lucky on that point, I'm good in both finding AND hiding things and I think I have that from my mother. I mustn't hide things for too long though, or either my mother will find them well looking for something totally different, or it might be accidentally moved ( ), to be never found again. In some cases I just lose it anyway, but my most revently found hiding places are easy to find (that's why noone will ever search there).
