I love the subject of this thread!
I have no idea if I detect sarcazm but I've been told am being sarcastic sometimes.

I use sarcasm a lot, but generally lack the ability to detect it when someone is speaking unless I've known them for quite a while or they're being REALLY overtly sarcastic. Helpful if they include some sort of physical/facial movement along with it.

I try not to let it bother me too much

I like sarcasm, and use it. However, I did get a perspective on it when I learned (ok, old greek person emerging now), the word sarcasm comes from the greek work sarkazo, which means ' to tear flesh. It can be cutting as well as funny.

Sardonicism is usually seen as the sharp form today (people are often sardonic, but people mistakenly call it sarcastic).

Irony and sarcasm are closer, in that they are usually not meant to be sharp.

i admire people who does sarcasm well. i love jokes with sarcastic comments and irony/parody too!

I like sarcasm because it's strong enough that I can detect it easily and it doesn't seem to be more natural for other people either.
But then, I grew up in an environment in which it was normal to use strong irony or sarcasm to communicate "whatever you did/said/asked was unnecessary!" ... usually to avoid to have to show too much emotion or to have to criticize directly. My mom often replies with a 'No you can't!' when I ask her if I am allowed to do things I am pretty sure that I am allowed because she wants me to tell her that I am going to do it, and not ask her if she allows me to. So for me, when somebody is sarcastic, it means "I want you to think and decide for yourself!" and to achieve this, there has to be an obvious discrepancy between the real situation and what you say.
Irony can be similar, but it usually is less strong, less easy to detect, and so it can be used to make a fool of others. I don't like that.

I wish that I knew how to detect sarcasm. I absolutely hate it. I always take it literally when it wasn't meant to be & get upset for no reason & feel stupid when I find out the person wasn't being serious. I don't understand sarcasm.

I miss sarcasm a lot, it drives me nuts!

Irony and brilliant cynical wit is the best.......sarcasm can just come across as plain mean. Just ask my son sometimes .....

And it annoys him no end when he says something I don't like or don't understand and I do my robot dance........and then I say in a computer voice "Computer says no"

He looks at me starngely and walks off in a huff.

Try that next time someone decides to use sarcasm you don't get.

I don't understand sarcasm at all. Most of the time when someone uses sarcasm I take it literally when that's not how the person meant it
