I only answer personal questions on a need to know basis. There are plenty of reasons - practical and personal - to do so. I can handle close friends or family asking such things but it's definitely an intrusion coming from acquaintances or strangers.

Donald Morton asked this in Mozart and the Whale.
I never have problems with this because I do not care about others in that way.
I do not want to collect information about them.
I have stated in another post that I need very little information from even my friends.
I function pretty well without needing information about people.

One of my pet hates is people asking me personal questions. I hate it so much. I have learned to say "why do you want to know that"? and to bring the question back onto the person asking. That along with people offering me unasked for advice are things i really hate a lot.

When I was a child, I would ask questions I learned afterwards that I shouldn't of asked. If someone is close to me, I will share some personal information. But it depends who it is and what I feel comfortable with. You would never know by reading my comments on here, but I'm naturally a very private and quiet person.

What exactly is considered a personal question? What exactly are personal questions? It seems like anything I ask when I am getting to know someone is a personal question. Same as when I try and have a conversation with people.

Peasonal questions are always being asked of me so they can tell other people what I said and laugh. If I say "What do you want to know that for"? They say "Aren't you going to tell me"? I get in trouble in this situation. Don't really know what to do about it.

I don't ask personal questions, because I don't like being asked those questions, myself.
