I'm the only aspie with a diagnose in my family, I do have a relative which show signs of autism or AS (no/poor eye contact, social akwardness etc.). I've barely met this relative however, and my family is being all secretive about it, claiming that he is neurotypical. My sister is kind of an aspie with no social problems (if that makes any sense) 8O

I was adopted but my dad exhbits a LOT of AS traits. If my dad had been a little kid today he would have been probably been diagnosed. My parents have never been particualrly close to anyone other than me and my siblings so I don't know if there are any aunts or cousins who had traits.

My biological mother was said to be mentaly challanged and low functning autistic.

I'm the only one diagnosed. My cousin shows a lot of symptoms but my aunty would freak out if you told her that...

I am convinced that my mother and her now-diseased mother are both on the Autism spectrum, but grew up way way before the mental field was addressing that sort of thing.

They were just seen as extremely introverted and bookish eccentrics, in addition to being "hysterical women" of course.

I'm the only one who is autistic, but a disturbingly high number of my family members have mental illnesses of one kind or another. Especially on my mom's side.

Probably the only one. Some people have single traits, but they're still normal. I am extremely odd and really different then rest of my family.
But OCD and Alzheimer's are common. And these disorders are connected with Autism.
