I discovered my intelligence after I found out about Asperger's and I indeed had it, so in school I wasn't picked on like the nerds were. Hell, I wasn't even picked on for not doing that well in school. I wasn't popular but I wasn't unpopular. Only a few people didn't like me which didn't bother me. Everyone needs their Draco Malfoy's in their life.
I hung around the bad boys, though never got into that much trouble myself. Was told off a bit for speaking in class, which was weird because I was apparently quiet.

I'm less a nerd, more a geek and maybe half-dork.

Geek: Very techy/sciency person
Dork: Socially unskilled/awkward person who tries to be sociable.

I would say I am a dork with a bit of nerd thrown in. :)

I always considered "nerd" and "geek" to be interchangeable with each other and terms like "buff" and "enthusiast," depending on which one sounds right. I'm an electronics buff, a sci-fi enthusiast, a computer nerd, and a video game geek.

Pretty much your standard white and nerdy fare.

"Dork," however, is pretty close to your definition. I tend to keep to myself, though, so I'm not sure how I'd qualify.

I saw an online test whch held this definition, http://www.okcupid.com/quizzy/take

but I agree the meanings are pretty elastic, I know a lot of people who have said they were computer nerds, or literature geeks etc... I guess it comes down to what the person wants to be known as :) .
