Why buy something that you'll just sell not too long after?

Hmmm, definitely worth noting!

I have read though that collecting miniatures goes back centuries for adult males as a zen-like past time; yeah I could totally see that.
Pretty much the entire premise of Pokemon.

For me if I collect a full collection of things, I am then done with them. All the fun of collecting is in the process of it for me. Getting the full set is the ultimate goal, but after it is collected there's nothing to do with it any more. I don't get much pleasure out of just looking at it, and when it's gone, you still know that you managed to collect the whole set. So I can understand why people wouldn't mind selling collections.
