I've seen the Temple Grandin movie and it is really good. I also saw Mozart and the Whale for the first time last night. I really likes it. It was a cute movie. In the situation with my Dad, I think it would probably be best to go with informational, factual programs, probably documentaries (I come from a family that watches Discovery/History/Science channels all the time, so I think any sort of informational film would be a good idea). I will look into the suggestions you all have made and take a look for myself. then I can decide which would be best to show my Dad.
By the way, the majority of the information I have obtained in reference to Asperger's (I guess Autism as a whole) is in reference to children. Although I know that there is no way of knowing how ANY person will turn out in adulthood, I was curious if anyone can verify whether Mozart and the Whale gives an accurate portrayal of Asperger's in adults. Just wondering...
I don't know if your dad reads, but I gave a real simple book to my family that is called 10 things every autistic person wants you to know...or something like that. (It's been a while) It was short and sweet but gives a basic idea of how an autistic person thinks and processes differently. Not every chapter pertains to everyone, but you can share the chapters that reflect your child. You can go through it pretty quickly and it's a good start.
