I have a neuropsychiatrist and a psychologist........

My psychologist was the one to bring AS up a year ago and my neuropsychiatrist(he is a specialist in forensic neuropsychiatry, as well as knowledge of ADHD/AS/Tourettes and so on) thinks that I may also have ADHD. My psychologist, now that I am officially dx after a year of intensive therapy and questions to nut everything out, is sending me to Hearts and Minds(Tony Attwood) for more specialised treatment.

Unless you have VERY obvious traits and you are not female, a neurologist might be able to help, but in my case I am 36, a female and have very good social skills that have gone down the tubes since 2007. Massive burnout.

A psychologist is excellent initially because they spend more time with you and have more appointments and seem to get a better overall picture of what you are dealing with. In saying this it took 36 years of therapists to get to this point.

Just my 2 cents. If you can get more holistic care, you will have better outcomes. I would find a neuropsychiatrist that has a good reputation and is willing to put some serious time in to dx you.

Take care,

Mics
