I've always had a tendency towards nostalgia. I currently have a strong interest in the Commodore VIC 20; a computer that was released in 1981 and discontinued in 1985. This computer appeals to me because my parents had one when I was a child and it packed up before I got a chance to know it.

no no good sir, don't get me wrong: I love the things that were popular when I was a child; the franchises, music, movies,...even the slang!

No matter how great great or crappy media is at the time, it's one's life specifically I'm talking about here.

I feel so bad that I went on a nostalgia trip in your thread on how other people's nostalgia trips are depressing.

and it's a simple concept, so it's weird to me you've had to explain it a few times...I know exactly what you mean, and god yes does it make me feel bad, especially ones about the 'wonderful college years'. those were awful.

it's cool dude. I'm glad you liked that Commodore though ;)

I apologize for the outburst, but to this Mod, it does make a difference, whether a nostalgic story takes place in the 60s or the 80s. The 1960s is my special interest.

no no, I know that. That's fine, but it wasn't entirely relevant to the point I was trying to make :)

Please have a heart....it was only a very short post. And not what I'd call irrelevent to the topic. And the 60s were cool.

Actually I'm quite similar to CR......other people's nostalgia trips can bore me if they're too far removed from my own experiences and penchants. Not depressing though, unless it's somebody I'm close to, then I get depressed about my Aspie traits because I know how it feels to try to share the stuff that I love, only to find the listener couldn't care less.

Yes often because it brings up not only memories of playing with said toy or watching said cartoon but also memories of the horrible bullying I received and feeling traped most of the time time as a child.

No, I don't regret watching loads of TV as a kid; I barely watch it now because I find it mostly too stupid,

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only one. I actually find TV shows outright insulting to my intelligence at times. How dumb do the producers and advertisers think people are? or are people really that dumb?

I love hearing old people (like 80 year olds) reminisicing about the old times and the way it used to be. I can listen for hours. I think I was born in the wrong century. Old people love me, who else will listen to their stories for hours? nevermine actually be interested?

I hate when people in my generation have nostalgia. I realize how much I missed. It sucks.

I wouldn't say you missed anything; the only thing I find depressing about the nostalgia trips is that looking back I thought I was actually happy at that point in my life...when I was actually at that point, only to look back now and realize how pathetic my life actually was overall.

Granted, I guess I was as happy as was possible considering the circumstances, but it still feels like I was willing to accept a lower standard...which I find pitiful.
