I think it's part of executive dysfunction.

I've been a terrible awful horrific procrastinator my whole life, and I always just assumed it was laziness. I hate that about me. Glad I'm not alone, though.

Maybe. I have trouble getting started on anything and once I do get started I HATE being interrupted.

Yes, I've been procrastinating all my life. But I've found a way to get something done, if I really must - put something else in front of it. For example: if I have to do my taxes, I'll concentrate on how much I need to wash the bathtub. Then I'll do my taxes to get out of cleaning the tub. This is so moronic, but it works more often than not.

Procrastinators, the leaders of tomorrow!

I seem to approach everything with a crazy level of inertia.

yes and yes. (and yes) Autistic inertia is one manifestation of executive dysfunction and it's werll-documented among those on the spectrum as well as the "auxilliaries" such as ADD. (The flip side is impulse control problems which is also a manifestation of executive dysfunction and also a trait common to those on the spectrum.)

You will sometimes see it mentioned in the literature as difficulty starting and stopping activities.

It's not good for me. I was thinking we could all unite two weeks from now.

Yes I do this and I do it with things I should. Need a new car I will wait and wait and wait. Heck it took me years to get a new cell phone. How long well let's just say I could call ever one else. Could they call me? Nope.

Yes, and it causes problems. If it's any consolation, I do always eventually finish projects, but they can drag out 98% done for years. I have bills sitting here since last month with checks written, but need to be stuffed in envelopes & mailed. Probably going to get late fees assessed. I bought a new file cabinet around Christmas, and it's half filled with the old one sitting next to it with a couple of file folders still inside. My guest bathroom has been completely remodeled (by me), with all plumbing and electrical done, but the new basin and mirror are sitting in the hallway in their boxes. I started that and did 98% of the job all in a few days..... 3 months ago.

I do a lot, but it also depends on what the task at hand is.
