not really but when my nephew was diagnosed i had already been studying Asperger's for quite awhile, and so the nagging continued and the little clues started piling up .... eventually i gave it serious consideration after reading an article about girls with AS. the true light bulb moment was a statement in the article something like "the girls want to connect with people outside of their family, but cannot." the weird thing is i'm not sure if i thought i had it prior and just wasn't ready to face it or tell anyone, or if i simply couldn't form a whole picture from all the little details. sometimes i can be out of touch with what's going on inside my own brain.

I mentioned to a friend of mine that I wanted to get tested for Aspergers. Turns out he is high functioning autistic and he gave me list of numbers to call. So this monday I will be making some calls and asking a few questions about setting some test dates if my insurance will handle it.

I first found out about AS when I saw a trailer for 'Adam' on TV :!:

I'd been diagnosed as a kid, but nobody ever told me until my son was diagnosed. Then my Dad reluctantly admitted the big secret... and said that he didn't believe it, because I'd "turned out alright", and if he'd told me before I'd have used it as an excuse.

My son is now doing fine, not so sure about me. I was thirty eight before I found out. Has to be easier to get help when you're younger.

my teacher. then i checked the Net and most of the symptoms were me. I fit the stereotypical diagnosis of nerd, dyspraxia and social awkwardness.
