I can easily do that test of guessing the emotion based on the eyes....I can even look at pictures of people with different body language and determine what they are expressing to an extent though I can get that wrong. However in real time is where all the problems begin I have no way of processing body language, facial expressions, and the conversation at hand at once. Its like I have to pick one or I cant do any of them...and eye contact is very hard for me so I typically don't look at peoples eyes when I talk to them.
Also though people with aspergers don't all have the exact same symptoms, so it's possible maybe you have it to even if you don't have all the exact problems as your daughter. Another thing to keep in mind to is even people without autism can have traits that could be identified with autism.......I think the real difference is 'does it impair you'? If you feel these potential aspergers issues you have are causing you a lot of problems then perhaps its worth looking into. But if its just a trait here and there then it could just be you are your daughters mother and you guys share some traits simply due to being related.

I don't think the eye test measures empathy, but ability to read subtle body language. I have a degree in Psychology. Tests like this are tested with a wide variety of (mostly normal) people. If it's being used widely, it means that normal people are pretty good at the test (at reading subtle body language clues, ex: just from the eyes).
Also, the eye test was just an example, if I'm interpreting the post correctly. I think what the OP is talking about maybe is that all her life she thought she was normal, people liked listening to her, etc. But she's now thinking that maybe people were actually standing there thinking she was weird because she wasn't realizing that they were rolling their eyes slightly or whatever. Is that right?
