Yeah I took a personality disorder test once and got high on quite a few things, but I'm thinking that's because of my paranoid schizophrenia diagnosis.

Diagnosed with both clinical major depression and an anxiety disorder.

I saw my shrink last week.

One of the first times I saw her (9 months-ish ago), I knew a little bit about AS, and told her that I thought I might be an aspie as my son is HFA, and my dad really seems to fit the stereotype.

She told me she thought I wasn't, and that the few things I'd related to her were likely the result of my depression.

Now I know a hell of a lot more, and last week, using each of the chapters in Tony Attwood's book as a guideline, I wrote down a long list of subjective anecdotes from my life, and objective anecdotes from my wife, that pretty much covered every single chapter.

She also explained to me that because of my IQ, she'd assumed I couldn't be an aspie, then described the IQ breakdown of someone with HFA (what she described was pretty much a perfect match for my son's IQ results and the explanation his psych gave us).

She apologised to me for her earlier disregard of my idea, and not running me through some basic diagnostic tests when I brought it up originally.

So that's something...

Yes that makes sense. Psychiatrists can be hard to get through to sometimes.

I'm pretty messed up in the head along side my AS. I get moderate-severe anxiety spells, have a serious phobia, stuff like that.

As a young child, I was tested negative for ADD, OCD, and it wasn't until high school they found out I have Aspergers. I also kind of an anxiety problem.

If AS can come with any other mental condition, could it possibly come with early-age Alzheimer's......?

Temple Grandin has said she takes no medicine for autism but does take a medicine for anxiety.

I suspect I have bi polar, I even fit a lot of the traits as a child. Oppisonatal defiant disorder but I don't really think that's a real disorder but if it is, I definaly have it or at least had it as a kid. OCD and I personally wonder if I am in the early stages of skitosfrenia.

I'm schizoaffective (bipolar type) as well as most likely being on the spectrum [my tdoc says yes, pdoc is not interested]. Just got confirmation of the schizoaffective DX this week. Didn't come as a surprise though, considering I have both clearly-marked mood states and clearly-marked delusional states occurring separately from mood.
