was this abused or strict discipline.
In volatile situations things can and will go wrong. The important thing is learn from them and move on.
FYI, I didn't vote in the poll because I found the options too polar, and it really isn't as if ANYONE was saying the situation was handled appropriately.
I don't see what's so polar as calling a case of clear cut physical abuse abuse. Am I the only one who's wondering why that woman isn't rotting in a jail cell right now? At the very least I hope if she had any children of her own they were taken away and put somewhere safe.
She snapped and acted inappropriately, no question. But have you ever been hit by a flying object while driving? Pretty hard to keep in control after something like that, given that it tends to feel like a near death experience and you're frightened out of your skull. That doesn't excuse anything, and it is good reason for why she wasn't qualified to drive that bus, but it is a mitigating factor as far as potential criminal penalties go.
No, it really isn't. What if she has her own NT toddler who throws a toy at her from the backseat while she's driving around town? Is she going to choke them too? Lock her up and throw away the key. Make sure she's never around children again.

but he wasn't a toddler.
Abuse definitely. I don't know about there but I assume it's the same as Ontario where all of our school bus drivers have a CB radio to contact their office if something goes wrong. She could have just pulled over and requested some help to deal with him. It looked to me like he was the only child on the bus so pulling over wouldn't be causing any other parent worry if they were late. It's a scary thought what people will do to our children.
As for the drunk bus driver, that just makes me want to puke. I commend those 3 girls for being smart enough to realize what was happening and stopping her before something terrible happened. A lot of parents disagree with kids having cell phones. I gave my son his when he started high school. You just NEVER know what can happen and this video goes to show. How would those kids contact the police or a parent or someone to help them in that situation if no one had a cell phone? Sorry, the cell phone debate is a whole other topic.
