Overbite, tiny, but it's there. Should we really link everything to autism?

''I love green!''

''So do I''

''Can't live without my green sweaters!''

 ''A lot of you love green. I suppose it's a real aspie thing.''

Who said that he was linking it to autism?
It could be that he was just interested in the statistic result.

I had that. My mom turned the key because I couldn't reach it. One day I heard a "sproing" sound in my head and my whole face was wider and there was a big gap between my front two teeth. My orthodontist said that was my upper palate breaking in half.
ouchhh, sounds painful :o

i have an overbite.
i'm not sure whether it's considered severe or not though.

but when i smile open-mouthed, my 4 top front teeth cover up the top half of my 4 front bottom teeth. they don't rest on one another so much as my bottom teeth just barely touch the backs of my top teeth.

my molars & canines seem well enough aligned though so possibly it has less to do with my jaw, and more to do with just how my front rows of teeth grew in :P .

Overbite is normal alignment:

That's a normal alignment, not a malocclusion.

Molars are what are looked at in considering a malocclusion that is often (incorrectly) colloquially referred to as an overbite, not incisors.

I have an overbite (most likely from sucking my thumb so much when I was little.)

does feel like though that my lower jaw could possibly be more comfortable a little more forward than it is, but my upper front teeth prevent it

If your upper molars are directly over top of their partners on the bottom and your mouth naturally closes so that your molars touch, your teeth are (at least with respect to over/under bite) properly aligned. If your lower jaw were further forward, your molars wouldn't touch when your mouth closed (unless your upper incisors moved to an angle where they were sticking more straight out instead of down) and you couldn't use your grinding teeth well. And if your incisors moved to point out, they'd be useless for chewing (and kind of funny looking.)

Just the teensiest overbite. No one has ever commented on noticing it or anything. Everyone thinks I've had braces but I never did (thankfully). I'll probably ruin my teeth eventually with my smoking and tongue ring.

I used to have a severe underbite. My upper jaw also wasn't broad enough. I have had 2 operations to fix this.

When I was 18 they made a cut in my upper jaw from front to back, operation itself wasn't anything major. Took like 10 minutes or so, they also took out my molars.
I got specialized 'bridge' braces. I had to place a key in it and turn it 3 times every day, effectively widening my jaw. Not a pleasant experience to say the least.

Then when I was 20 they took a piece out of my lower jaw so it aligned with my upper jaw. Had to wear braces for 1 year after the last surgery. Everything looks fine now.

Insurance paid most of it, my doctor described the condition worse than it actually was (in bad cases it can screw up your chewing which is bad for your stomach).

Interesting you should say that about the stomach, been having a lot of stomach problems the past couple of years but could be due to something else. Which teeth would come closest to touching or were touching each other when you had your original bite at 18? Currently my molars are the only teeth that can touch each other =/. I don’t really notice it because it's been this way for quite awhile, but the only teeth that really work to chew are the molars. (Haven't really researched how a normal mouth chews but I would assume not entirely through the molars) The surgery doc I went to said there could be a lot of tooth damage in the future due to my bite, nothing about stomach problems though would you mind elaborating? And did you speak to multiple surgeons?

I have an overbite, I guess a moderate overbite. It's not like outrageously bad, but it's still pretty noticeable.
