I just realized lately that I have AS. When I was in the school system almost 30 years ago, very little was known about autism by the school system. We had no psychologists in our school. Everyone -- teachers, other kids, the principle, school staff -- all thought I was "weird". I had an unusual gait, bounced and walked on my toes, had a thing with flapping my hands all the time. I also just did "weird" things -- never quite fit in.

So, finding out I have AS, it doesn't really phase me -- now I just have a name for all the weirdness I've been experiencing my whole life.

I notice that my diagnosis process was a bit different from most people here. For one, I'd never even heard of Asperger's before I was diagnosed, when I wasn't even looking for it. After my parents told me, I did research and logged on here from the directions that the psychologist who diagnosed me told my parents. After my research, it lead me to one conclusion, "It all makes sense now."

On my doctors report, I remember having a diagnosis of someone having autism, not severe, more on the mild end of the spectrum but when I went to secondary school, I had tons of reports saying that I have Aspergers and in all of my school reports... A kid with aspergers syndrome.

That's when I started getting confused about my diagnosis and that's when I was unsure of what condition I got.

So confusing... I don't know if I should get diagnosed again?
