Some of the worst tantrums I ever had was when I was 13. I cannot remember what triggered them, it was something rather trivial. But can clearly remember antagonizing our very cantankerous next door neighbor by ripping out her best roses and begonias out of her garden and throwing them up on her roof as well as ripping up her mail and throwing the ripped up remains in her front lawn. And then vandalized the rest of her garden in rage.

That next door neighbor was a compulsive complainer at the best of times and she complained about everything from just barely audible music, barking dogs and kids just enjoying them selves in the swimming pool. You could not please her.
I think my mother was quietly happy that my autistic tantrum really gave her something to squeal. Because she did not particularly like her anyway.

I have a flash temper. When I lose it badly I literally see red- a brownish-red haze at the edges of my vision. My ears ring, and I hit out at the nearest thing. In various outbursts I've cracked my mother's wrist, smashed two pairs of glasses...etc.

I have an incredibly long temper - if that's what you call the opposite of a short temper.
My NT/ADHD husband has an incredibly short temper. 8O

Yep - I tend to let stuff go without reacting and find that mostly it is sensory stuff that I get a short temper about. My husband however is NT and even has a tattoo that has the words "Short Fuse" under the picture of a bomb with a lit fuse (LOL) - certainly accurate for him.

I don't know what kind of temper I have, but I do have a temper. It really comes out when I am being verbally or emotionally bullied by someone close to me, or I am being frustrated by that same person. All it takes is sarcasm, invalidation of my emotions, or countering to really get my temper up. My temper hardly ever comes out at work, and if it does, it often gets taken out on objects--especially photocopy machines that jam too much. I don't like my temper and I try to restrain it, but sometimes it comes out in unpleasant ways.

I used to be like that, only a few years ago. I'ver gotten over it, but I'm thinking it had something to do with my AS.

I wouldn't call my temper short because at any given moment I probably have 10-15 little things bothering me all at once, most of them sense-related (i.e. taste in my mouth, slight nausia, itchiness in 2 or 3 patches of skin, too hot/cold, headache, bad smell in room, annoying sounds everywhere distracting me) but with others more mental (i.e. anxiety about something, insecurity, worried about something), and yet despite all that at once most of the time I can hide how annoyed I am unless somebody asks me what's wrong or if I'm all right. Heh. Yet, because I already have all that pissing me off inside, when I actually do have some other reason to be pissed off (i.e. somebody says something hurtful), then yes, I do get angry easily. So I appear to have a much shorter temper than I actually do.
