I would say I'm more quiet/reserved than truly shy, though I am quite shy in some situations. I have a lot of trouble breaking the ice with new people, and group conversational settings usually intimidate me enough that I just sit there without saying anything. I'll want to interject into the conversation, but for some reason I just can't open my mouth and say anything, even though I know in my head what I want to say. It's rather frustrating, to say the least.

I usually say very little because I'm thinking about stuff that I like...cameras, computers, economics, ants, evolution...and many NT people usually don't like to talk about those things at the lengths that I like to so I don't have verbal conversations anymore, I just think about various things in the things I like and I forget to talk because I'm completely consumed by the monologue going on in my head about the things I like.

I don't really care what people think about me, although I did care more about it when I was younger. But I really don't care anymore and I just forget to talk to people now.

I am very shy and reserved...

I find it extremely difficult to approach new people and strike up a conversation, because I'm so preoccupied with the inner thoughts that keep buzzing round my head. Not having any innate ability to start conversations, think of suitable topics or connect with near-strangers, I'm always at a serious disadvantage. Because of this, I tend not to approach new people and hide behind my more socially aware friends.

Once you get to know me, things change. But I am still usually the person who says the least in any social situation. Maybe I'm just selective with my words.
