One of my school teachers gave me the nickname walking encyclopedia.

I have gotten

"Do you make up words?"

"He reads the dictionary."

"...encyclopedic knowledge..."

"Sponge that soaks up information" (not my favorite description)

but not the exact phrase "walking encyclopedia."

Also, I've been compared to a brick wall a few times.

If I were called a walking encyclopaedia or a walking dictionary, I would definitely take that as a compliment!

They call me "el diccionario andante", and "la enciclpedia". It's not like I am a lot more intelligent than the rest of the people, but I have the bravery to actually ask when I have a question or when I don't know something. And being "el diccionario andante" it's not such an achievement when people around you barely use like the only 200 to 600 words they know.

I got called a walking calculator in primary school.
My friends these days refer to me whenever they need to spell something, esp long words like encyclopaedia. (US;encyclopedia).
I used to have quite an extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
I know my library card and national insurance numbers off by heart.(saves time).
Two of my friends moved recently, told me their new address and I had it memorised almost instantly. Phone numbers are quite easy to remember.
I got used by people at school alot- they would promise to be my friend if I gave them answers to homework (of course they stopped talking to me when they got what they wanted) :x
I have a reputation for being a bit of a walking memory bank regarding useless facts about music too.

Yes, all those things, all my life. I have a seemingly inexhausable memory for facts, numbers, melodies, the subtleties of natural forms such as crystals and plants, and blocks of text. However the only reason I know where my car keys are is because they are physically stuck to my bag; and if I run into someone I've met only in Situation A, I will not recognize them in Situation B.

Names and faces - forget it! I'm clueless.

I have been called "walking encyclopedia" a few times. I have had people suggest that I should try out for Jeopardy.

Constantly, since I was about four years old. When I was little, I got bored with my parents' regular books and sat down with their set of encyclopedias for something to read, and no one in my family has ever gotten over it, nor my tendency to remember anything I've read.

I also think in writing most of the time, so I can spell and remember numbers absurdly well, which has gotten me quite a reputation pretty much everywhere I've worked and gone to school. I'm hoping to launch a career as a professional copy-editor with it. ^_^
