Theres pros and cons to proffestional diagnosis and self diagnosis, and insurance is a great example. I'm diagnosed with ADHD/and others, but also self diagnosed aspie, due to the difficulties here getting a dianosis, but I do meet a group of aspies monthly and enjoy it, fit in if you like, not an easy thing to do if your not aspie yourself i guess?

If things make sense ie knowing about yourself more, and you'r not alone, sometimes thats all it takes for some people. For others its about getting the help you need.

If its a self diagnosed disease, then that is dangerous! but as already said, ASD is a gift for some, and would be for others if they could just get some help they need. Actualy just thinking about it AS-D!? disorder ffs! maybe thats the key, if people got the help they needed it wouldnt be a problem? someone having a gift thats a disorder!?

Yes, self-diagnosing can lead to multiple diseases ...

Autism is not a disease.

There is nothing dangerous about someone with autism making a so-called "self-diagnosis", but I can imagine a mis-self-diagnosis made by someone with a mental condition could lead to trouble.
