Have heard a number of stories about persons (like you share about yourself) who do tend to do very well with high motivation over about a period of a year or so but then, when the project is completed/whatever, they lose all interest until something else catches their imagination/attention.
Don't know how easy it may be or may not be to change that.
One can certainly recognize a pattern like that over time and perhaps realize it may be a personality trait/genetic disposition/whatever it seems to me.
There are some persons like actors and actresses and movie directors who can produce a body of work which is characterized by a diligent work ethic in a wide variety of roles and movies with different themes over a period of decades. They go from role to role, movie project to movie project, to new location to new location.
The word persistence is often applied to someone who can sustain regular actions over a long length of time like twenty years or so.
Everyone is different.
That's my understanding.
