Personally, I suffer from Depression so things tend to trigger that and I always blame the Depression for feeling like crap. That said, I discussed this kind of issue with a friend once and she suggested that I probably had low blood sugar which was contributing to my mood. So perhaps eat something and maybe exercise a bit when you wake up and that may help.

(I could be totally wrong -- just speaking from personal experience)

The uberman sleeping schedule is one of the Polyphasic sleeping schedules, there are many.
There's a guy Steve Pavlina (<- link) who has been on uberman for 5 months or so, he writes about it on his blog. I think it's pretty cool, being able to function with only 2 hours of rem a day. I tried it but I only last 6 days or so, if you don't have anything to do it's quite boring.

Yea, the article I was reading, the guy said that the first week or so would be the hardest, and you'd better have something to do or else you'll either get bored, or you'll fall asleep and mess it all up.

Not depressed, no, but I definitely do feel like crap after napping. I feel really groggy and generally worse than I did before my nap.

I love 20-minute powernaps when I'm feeling tired during the daytime. Restricting yourself to a maximum of 20 minutes sleep cuts out all the post-nap grogginess and general crapness. I find that the longer I nap for, the worse I feel after waking up. Napping in the evening and waking up when it's just got dark is the worst because I feel like I've missed a lot of the day. Coupled with grogginess and low mood, the mere thought of falling asleep in the evening sends shivers down my spine. Dunno if napping makes me depressed because I'm pretty depressed anyway :?

I feel horrible after a nap too. I thought it'd make me feel better, but it doesn't. I seem to fall into such a deep sleep (not a light sleep), and then when I wake up I'm like, ''ohh, am I still here?! Am I still alive?!'' I fall into such a deep sleep that even my ears shut off and don't hear or feel a thing, or even dream or anything. It's like I'm dead, and then I wake up knowing that I've got to continue on with life and the horrible challenges it faces me, and my loneliness and weirdness laughing at me all the time. All I want is to go back to sleep and escape all of this s**t in my life, but I know that if I do that I will have major problems getting to sleep tonight, so I better save my sleep for then. I do know that there is nothing worse than laying there wide awake and full of energy at half 12 at night.

When I wake up from a nap, like i did today it felt awful. I am pretty familiar with the feeling though. Its like guilt mixed with confusion and sadness? Whenever i feel this after i wake up i find myself having faint thought and feelings from my dream. Like i cant let it go. Wven if i cant remember it i still know the feeling. It just takes time to adjust. I sometimes even feel this feeling in the middle of the day when i think about how i feel,or felt or how i was thinking. Im super sensitive so i examine my feelings a lot. You just gotta move on

When I take a nap I wake up feeling disoriented and not knowing what day or time it is. Then I end up staying awake most of the night.

I feel awful after a nap, unless....

The nap is for like 15-20 minutes, only reaching the lighter stages of sleep.

I want to study polyphasic more; I seem to be wired in such a way that it may benefit me.
