All kind of sums up the whole Asperger's experience really - the deep, yearning need to be with other people when alone, that turns into the deep, yearning need to be alone again as soon as you're not. The ultimate catch-22 condition ;)

I stopped trying to maintain a veneer of social normalcy last year, just after I discovered I have Asperger's.

I do very little pure 'socializing' at the moment and I neither crave it nor feel lonely about it.

I am now spending more time on business-networking (one of my special interests) which is far more (and in many cases almost entirely) intellectual interaction.
