I seem to have two modes in life, sometimes I don't care what people think and what happens in the future, worry about it when it happens, and other periods I worry about the future and what people think. It is almost like having two personalities over different periods of time and going from one extreme to the other.

I care about life, but at the same time, I've found and accepted myself. 8)

Now that I think about it, I think one of the primary challenges with self-acceptance, would be to not compare yourself with others.

At least, that's the main problem I have, regarding this.

Saying you came this far right away, without any help or kindness from others, I really have a hard time believeing, so pardon me.

Seconded. I don't think anybody is 100% emotionally self-sufficient. Some claim to be, but I think it's more of an inflated ego thing.

Ego. Not how I see it, really. It's kind of odd to me though, that one would just suddenly not care about things that bothered them a long time. If OP means that he got this after time, then I would agree. Acceptance isn't an ego trait either! :? It's healthy. Most people have to learn how to do it, I could swear.

Ok. I was a little concerned, since you didn't specify the length of time. I thought "Did something bad happen?" Yeah, I at least thought I was useing the English language here. I don't make sence every time, though.

For me, it has been self acceptance AND caring.

And coffee heath bar ice cream. (No, not BJ's. Theirs sucks now that Bryer's owns them. I make my own now, and it's even better than the original. :P )

When you learn to accept yourself for who you are and stop caring what others think about you, it goes a long way to you being happy.
