Well, I got myself an "ePad". It is an Android tablet with a 7" screen, 256MB of RAM, 2 GB SSD and room for a 16 or 32 GB MicroSD card, as well as support for ethernet, Wifi, and flash drives.

It cost AUD $200, instead of the AUD $600+ for an iPad.

I have downloaded heaps of free books to this ePad and I have already used it to read "The Invisible Man" by HG Wells, while travelling on the train. And I have played a few card solitaire games when I didn't feel like reading straight away.

It's my newest favourite toy!

The market will change so quickly over the next year that I am glad I didn't buy a more expensive device.

As for the so-called ePad, check this out.

My dad has the motorola xoom for work, and he brings it home sometimes for me to use. I absolutely love it! I'm actually the one that gave him the idea of tablets, as they're my current obsession, and have been for about a year now. I know everything there is to know about them! I don't have my own yet because i'm waiting for the samsung galaxy pad 10.1. I have to say, though, i much preffer android to apple software. I just think that, with the widgets and all, it's a lot more user friendly. And you can get an android tablet running android 2.2, same size as the ipad, for around $300. The Acer Iconia is just as nice as the xoom (which is far, far, far better than either ipad), and is only $450! The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be $499. Boy am i exited! I even won a contest at my school for making our school greener, and my idea was to use tablets in school! No, we didn't actually do it, but I am on my school's technology committie, and i plan to bring my tablet to school next year. They allow nooks, so they have to allow tablets! Anyway, tablets are such a great tool for anyone, especially people on the spectrum.

If I'm awarded SSI next month (and subsequently thousands of dollars in backpay), I will get an iPad to help with communication.
