Deep down, NT's are afraid of us. They just don't think about it or want to admit it.

I think NT's are more envious of us. You see, we get called "special" and because we humans only live once, its like they feel that they have missed out on a chance to be "special". I bet you that any NT who won $10million on the lottery would still be unhappy, because they aren't deemed "special".

NT's need to realise that having AS is nothing special, its actually a major headache and hindrance to a person's personal growth.
Not to call you out or anything, but I thought more or less it's the other way around.

They can be creeped out by what they don't know, but overall they'll look down on us and be happy they're not "as bad" as us. (that doesn't represent my views, just saying)

I agree with Willard. Most people are more annoyed than scared of us, 99% of the time. However, having said that, I have had some meltdowns that truly scared some people. It looks so much like something bad will happen, even though I don't wind up doing anything serious.

People are scared of us, and that's why they want to eliminate us.

I think the reason behind all the bullying is fear. Maybe not the kind of fear you think of normally. But they instinctively think something is wrong with us and that we somehow might be a threat and act from that.

No, for the most part, they don't even know "we" exist. When they think Autism, they think severe Autism, and yes that does scare most of them. We, for the most part, are just NT's with personality problems in hte minds of most NT's.

At one time, people were not afraid of me. Now, I think some of them are. It doesn't bother me, so long as they don't try to shoot or jump me. When people are a bit apprehensive, they tend to leave me alone and I don't have to put up with as much disrespecting bs as I would otherwise. They see me as less of a target. On the other hand, I don't want them to be too afraid. I don't want them to do anything crazy to me because they think I will do something to them.
Once you disclose a label, you run the risk of people potentially being afraid. If I told everyone I had AS, they might be even more afraid that I would do something simply because they don't understand.

During my senior year of high school, two girls literally became afraid of me because they found out about my AS diagnosis. Whenever they walked past me, those two girls would literally widen their eyes in fear.

Yes, some are. I'm perhaps the most benign person in the world and I have scared my fair share of NT's by doing absolutely nothing but going about my own business.

NT's are pre-programmed to develop these unspoken social rules and have these ingrained perceptions about how things are supposed to be, and when something disturbs their fragile view of the world, some of them get very upset.

I've been in a few situations where I had to reason with an NT family member or acquaintance that just because a particular person is "weird" it does not mean they are a threat to them.

And what they tend to consider the most mundane things "weird". One person I know decided another guy was "weird" and thus "scary" because he was sitting there minding his own business while trying to balance a stack of bottle caps on his head.

I believe that applies to anyone with a fragile view of anything.

Well, seeing as I have more than enough violence in my past, well yeah people in the areas i have went to school are scared. When you are the type of person who is EXTREMELY combative, well, s**t does happen. As I have posted before, I have almost not been allowed to go to graduation because the vast majority of the school body thought I was gonna commit a shooting during the ceremonies. Took the efforts of myself, the principal, the superintendent, a couple friends, and a girl I really liked at the time to convince everyone else to stop saying s**t. Granted said girl gave up on me because I wouldn't ask her out, as I myself considered her out of my league.

Nowadays though I freak out the neighbors simply because the never see me yet Ive lived here for how long. I literally don't feel like I have to go out of my way and even interact with most of them simply because the majority are crack and heroine addicts and I feel that I don't even need to get 'involved'. they are simply not worth my time. I go out and do my own s**t but really, I don't feel the need to ever interact with these people other than the old lady next door. Call me a reclusive person or whatever but I really don't care. I go by a rule of efficiency when dealing with day to day life. If its not gonna have a profound effect on my life, why should I even interact with them.

Sort of. It's not that there scared, it's really that there are all these little signals that they're not even aware off that are telling them something is wrong. NT's are not aware of all the social rules (conciously), it's automatic. When someone doesn't do eye contact, when they give off bad body language or they make other social mistakes, they make the NT suspicious, even if the NT doesn't know why. This can be alleviated if you tell the NT you are Autistic, because then they understand and realize that it's not like your a threat, you just communicate differently.
