According to all these websites, only 20% of AS do not meet the criteria for NLD and most of them have ADHD/ADD or a learning disorder, so it is not surprising that most AS are not stereotyped AS.
And all AS are not identical, most NLD display AS characteristics though they are not part of the diagnosis by the way. And I am pretty sure I could be diagnosed with NLD since I have dyspraxia (which is apparently the reason why i tend to be very midly dyslexic/dyscalculic according to my doctor, all of those things are strangely linked) and show AS characteristics but am more obsessed with letters than with numbers.

(Did not learn to read before 6 though, but I am pretty sure there are AS and NLD who did not either, because it also depends on you cultural background).

The main problem is that math = intelligent nowadays, and since AS are supposed to be intelligent (in term of IQ), people will assume they are obsessed by numbers and math (I did enjoy to divide everything by 2 when I was younger but still count with my fingers XD, and dividing by 2 is not so difficult). Perhaps this is the reason why dyscalculics tend to be considered as stupid people instead of getting a diagnosis... :?
