That's one advantage of aging is people stop asking you why aren't you this? and why don't you that?
I used to hate that. At that time I felt like saying -"How can I explain something to you that I can't explain to myself?"
Whatever I am, I know I am not built for what society expects of me.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.

SECONDED!

To the OP: the person who said that has no clue what he's talking about. People like that aren't worth your time.

1. Fake - Medically documented and proven real.
2. Whiny - We don't whine too much and mostly keep to ourselves.
3. White people - All races can have Aspergers
4. Disease - Syndrome

Uh we didn't make it up, Hans Asperger did.

Yeah there are some people who do whine and slap that label on themselves just so they have an excuse. Not all self diagnoses do that.

Maybe he has been around too much of the self diagnosed and got the wrong information about it and he is uneducated about AS.

If he look it up in the DSM he would see it isn't made up by whiny people and it's actually a condition.

Technically all labels are made up because that is what society needs, labels.

On this note, though, I remember having a lot of trouble with certain tasks that everyone else at school seemed to do easily, and when I even spoke about it, I was told to stop complaining and get over it - as it came easy to them, it didn't to me, and they didn't understand how much more difficult it was for me.

I was just thinking about that recently.

I hesitate to ask since it seems to be asked about everything here, but... anybody else feel that way?

I don't think people who make comments about ADHD, AS, depression etc being fad disorders realize that you cannot be diagnosed with a disorder in the DSM unless your symptoms significantly interfere with your ability to function in (usually) one or more main areas like e.g. work, social life, school etc. Anyone could be said to have "traits" of one disorder or another to some extent.....people may be forgetful or overly concerned with germs etc..... but it is a matter of degree...the degree to which you exhibit the traits/symptoms and the degree to which they affect your life. .If you were kind of shy or enjoyed solitary pursuits and just a bit eccentric but not to an extent where it ever had a detrimental impact on your life, you could NOT be diagnosed with AS!

Sounds like something you'd find on Encyclopedia Dramatica, minus a few additional crude/sophomoric insults.

Do people who spout opinions like that really put that much thought or research into their conclusion? Probably not. That's why it's not even worth the bother of trying to refute. No matter what you say, they still "win" in thier own mind, as long as they manage to ruffle your feathers.

It hurts even more when its someone close to you who says it.

I'm on the verge of deleting my website and youtube channel.

For many years I thought AS was just a fancy way of describing someone who does not fit in with the norms of what society wants. But as more info has become available I believe it is a genuine phenomenon. Mostly because Hans Asperger first identified it in children.

It is terrible because lots of people will think that it is not a real condition. And some of those that believe it is a condition will not think it is such a bad condition.

Nobody understands us! :-(

I wouldn't dare say AS is a fake, whiny, white person disease.

However...

I do think that there are frequently such things as fake, whiny, white people.

I wonder if perhaps such a thing has ever been labeled. It could be it's own spectrum disorder: FWWPD.

Where does this braindead piece of crap live?

I want to beat his head in until he'll have AS too. I don't care if he is 6'2 and 120kg, you say that to my face, you are going DOWN.

Ok...I didn't mean it. Just very annoyed at this piece of bigotry.

I think there are far more fake, whiny NTs in the world...just go down to the department of motor vehicles or even the grocery store and wait in line for an hour and you'll hear enough fake whining NTs to last a lifetime
