Looking when people talk to you

Eye contact has always been a problem for me. I don't want people to think I am rude, but I cannot help that I find it very difficult to look them in the eye. When someone is looking me in the eye, I feel like something is shoving my head in another direction.

I never know what to do with my eyes when I'm chatting with someone, and now that I think about it, that might explain why my best conversations seem to take place while I'm driving with someone in my car. It's one of those rare times when the other person would rather I not make much eye contact with them, because y'know, please look at the road.
