As far as I know, I'm the only person in my family with AS. I can't say if it's genetic as my Asperger's was likely triggered by epilepsy as an infant. Since the age of 2 or so, I haven't had any seizures. The only thing I'm sure of is that depression is big on my mom's side of the family, while bipolar disorder is in my dad's side, 2 uncles and a cousin have it. Another cousin of mine was born prematurely and has some learning problems as a result of his early birth.

I have AS.

My mom is NT with sensory integration problems.

My dad was probably an Aspie (introverted scientist with extreme computer-programming talent; socially awkward but sweet enough for Mom to fall in love). He died before AS was formally recognized.

My littlest sister, who's 10, couldn't be called AS because she has decent social skills and is quite creative. Still, she has some parts of it: Her speech is very formal and stilted; and she is hyperlexic and has had special interests since the age of three, when she learned to read and could recite the names of the planets and tell us details about each of them.

The middle sister is NT, though she's introverted and asexual like me.

My great-grandfather was probably HFA/Aspie; he could play any musical instrument and had perfect pitch, but couldn't carry on a conversation.

My grandmother is extremely NT, but also has perfect pitch and hates the sound of off-key singing.

I can see elements of AS in all of my family; I wouldn't be surprised if the Autism Spectrum extends into the "NT spectrum"--people with autistic traits who aren't bothered enough by their Aspie traits for actual diagnosis, but are closer to the AS end of the NT spectrum than most.
