I tend to be known for identifying root causes of problems and then finding solutions. Unfortunately, my lack of social skills and identifying the politics and emotional baggage people carry usually results in my ideas being shot down until every other idea fails.
As a consultant I would identify a company's specific problems and generate workable solutions and plans. I knew the management and executives would keep trying other methods until they would bring me back (often two or three times) to finally implement the solution I proposed years previously.
But that is truly the job of a consultant, to create demand for companies to keep paying you again and again for the same advice.

People at work tell me I'm a great problem solver, but from time to time I'll miss the simplest, most glaringly obvious answer. Actually had one of those moments today.
