i can clearly recall trying to tell my mother i wanted to wear the red dress but i wasn't old enough to talk yet. i remember being in her arms and trying to get the dress down by pulling on it while she was getting me a blue one. then i remember being increadibly upset while my mom was dressing my in the blue one. i must have been screaming because she went and got the red one and asked me if that's what i wanted. i recently found a picture of myself in that red dress and i could not have been more than nine months old. i had only four teeth, very short baby hair and the biggest baby smile. my daughter and step son also have clear memories of things as babies. my daughter asks me about things that happened when she was an infant and remembers our first apartment which we moved out of when she was two. my step son remembers being with different families when he was a baby. he was barely 2 when he moved in with us. he remembers some of his previous care givers and loves them still. he also remembers his birth mother enough to know i was not his 'real' mother without me ever telling him so.

My first clear memory was at 18 months old. I remember my dress was itching my arms and the humidity outside while my dad carried me into day care... i have described this moment as if it were a dream and my dad said i only went to that day care for a week.

My earliest memories are from when I am at least 2 years old. One particular memory HAD to be from before I was 3.

I don't know. I'm just speaking based on a few people I've asked. Totally unscientific.

Wikipedia says I'm wrong. But that aside, does anyone know if there has been a study into aspie memory vs. NT memory, and how they differ? That's really what I wanted to get at with this thread.

It probably depends on people. Most people I know say that they have clear memories of their childhood and even before 3, it seems common (or they are all lying but I do not see why this would be a competition). I know many people remember their first birthday, or it seems that many of them do.

I tend to say that I have no memory of my life before 5 and half but I actually have some, I am generally too lazy to think about it and it does not cover the whole years, just some random memories. Of course, with time, even the lastest year will become more blurry and subjective.

I have one memory of when I was very young but that's the only one and I had to ask my mother when I was little if it was true or just a dream, but it's not important.

I have some traumatizing memories of being very small. I however can't tell if these were memories or memories of dreams I had. They come more with feelings of emotion than a vision, and can almost put me in a rocking fetal position, so I'm afraid to think of them being more than dreams.

I have some odd memories as well. Like I remember specific details of frivolous things growing up, but I also have alot of repressed memories so I don't actually remember much of my life until my teenage years... I'm only 23. I find it odd though because from what I can piece together of my life... I can't tell why so many memories are repressed. I can't even figure out what was so traumatic :?

I've got a few memories of my childhood. That said, I've got a very bad long-term memory, and can't even really remember much from last year, let alone ten years ago.

My memories go back as far as my being two or three...

In one, my refusing to wear diapers because "I'm now potty trained, so no more diapers for me!" But I'm not sure of which age that was for me. In another, I am 3 and we've just crashed our car and I'm completely intrigued by the flashing lights and the one stable lights of the factory behind us.

Ditto.

At 3-4 you aren't that young not to be able to recall what was happening when you were that age. The inability to recall the first years of your elementary school is abnormal.

My first memory is of me being carried by someone (a nurse, I guess because who else could it be?) in a room full of baby cribs which could take place only when I was born. Later there is one memory of myself on a train and later there's the period of childhood amnesia from which my memories reappear about a month before I turned 3 (I know this because it was Christmas time and I was born on late January).

Very few people believe me, but I remember bits & pieces of infancy, and NOT what I was told about it. Too much to outline here, but please trust me. I also have very vivid memories of my toddler years, and if anything, those memories are becoming clearer with age (I'm 43). I can remember some conversations verbatim from age 2 or 3 with my Grandma, and I can easily remember things like our phone number from before I was 5, and where my family went grocery shopping, and the names of the cashiers, etc. Again, all before I was 4 or 5. Can I remember who I met yesterday? NO. :?
