I agree. We don't, in English at least, pair a voiced and unvoiced consonate. zb or sp, but not sb. And, from what the Germans here posted, looks like that goes in German (at least in this word) too.

It sounds funny, but it's true.

I always tell people "The name of my condition sounds like a name for the horrible food from McDonald's. Just my luck". Finding humor in this helps me deal with it, haha.

Sorry, but this is most decidely not true. If it were, we German-speaking people would be sure to place an umlaut into the word: Asbörger. We really like placing dots above vowels, I reckon.

Even though the correct way of pronouncing it is assburger I pronounce is asperjer. It's already a stupid sounding name to begin with without making it sound like a euphemism for piles as well.

I didn't know that it could be spoken as assburger before WP. We pronounce it ah-spair-ger (G like this in get, not like in Germany). I would record the pronunciation and upload it for you, but I'm sick and my voice is hoarse now. Maybe I'll do it later or maybe somebody else.

Or even Ausbörger or Esbörger (Äsbörger, yeah, umlauts rule!). English A is completely different than ours.
